Behind The Scenes Tour
An Adults Only Guided Tour Behind the Scenes at Kula!
This Tour must be booked 48 hours in advance.
You’ll go places no ordinary visitor goes. You’ll start at the Incubation Lab but we cannot predict what you can expect to see. We could have eggs from Fiji’s rarest iguanas, eggs from our Rail or Peacock populations or a gaggle of fluffy goslings depending on whose breeding season it is. Next is the Land & Sea Building (Air conditioned!). You’ll not only see the largest coral display in Fiji but get to go ‘back of house’ into the Marine Life Support Center to see just how the corals are kept at the peak of health. Our Marine Life Support Technicians will show you around and be happy to answer any questions.
After a walk through the forest and our huge open habitats, you’ll arrive at the Iguana Captive Breeding Center. This is the place we house some of Fiji’s most endangered species and work to breed them in protected captivity for release back into the wild in a controlled environment. It is here that we’ve worked for the past 6 years re-building the population of the Island of Monuriki (the place where Tom Hanks filmed “Castaway”).
The “Behind the Scenes” tour is packed with information and Q&A sessions with our knowledgeable staff. You’ll get firsthand knowledge of our free children’s environmental education programs and learn how our various displays function and are maintained.
